Delicious tiramisu turned into ice cream so you can enjoy your favourite dessert all year long

If you have been here long enough you may have noticed I love a bit of tiramisu, so I couldn’t miss the chance of turning one of my favourite desserts into ice cream.

This delicious recipe contains only 5 ingredients and is incredibly easy. It also doesn’t contain any alcohol and the coffee can be substituted with decaff, so it’s suitable for everyone.

So what’s in it?

As I mentioned, this recipe is incredibly easy to make and only requires 5 ingredients, this is what you’ll need:

  • Lady fingers – you won’t need many of these, around 24 depending on the size and width. I bought mine at Waitrose, they were quite thin and long, so I placed 4 in a row.
  • Mascarpone: nice and creamy mascarpone will make this tiramisu perfectly thick.
  • Double Cream: this will add extra creaminess to the Tiramisu.
  • Condensed milk: for the perfect amount of sweetness
  • Espresso coffee: it’s important to use espresso shots and nothing that may be diluted and therefore less strong. You really want the coffee flavour to come through.
  • Cacao or cocoa powder: there is no other way to top your tiramisu than with cacao or cocoa powder, my favourite is from Food Thoughts.

A few tips for success

  • Use mascarpone cheese: yes, mascarpone is similar to cream cheese, but also slightly different. Mascarpone has a much milder flavour and it’s creamier, as it’s made with whole cream instead of milk. You can find mascarpone in pretty much every supermarket.
  • Dip your cookies quickly: I think we’ve all been there, we dip a cookie in coffee or milk and it breaks or it becomes super soggy, we definitely do not want that! I dipped 2 cookies at a time in the coffee with a quick movement, that way, only one side of the cookies will be wet and it will soak the other side. If the cookies are too wet, they’ll break when you put them on the tiramisu or it will difficult to serve.
  • Make it a day ahead: this is not a must, but I would highly recommend as that will allow all the flavours to set, making it a lot tastier.

Tiramisu Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 200 gr of condensed milk
  • 125 gr of mascarpone cheese
  • 250 ml of double cream
  • 100 ml of coffee
  • 16 lady fingers (aprox. Depending on size)
  • Cacao or cocoa powder (to dust)

Method

  1. In a large bowl and using a hand mixer, beat together the mascarpone and condensed milk until smooth and creamy.
  2. In a separate smaller bowl, beat the double cream until soft peaks. Then slowly fold it into the mascarpone and condensed milk mix using a spatula.
  3. Line the bottom of a 14.6 x 24.6 cm rectangle baking dish with baking paper and spread 1/3 of the mascarpone mix over it.
  4. Pour the cold espresso in a large bowl and quickly dip a lady finger at a time, it’s important to dip them quickly to avoid them becoming soggy and breaking. Place 8 ladyfingers in 2 rows of 4 over the mascarpone layer. The amount of ladyfingers you use may depend on their size.
  5. Repeat the above process again. You should have 2 layers of ladyfingers and 3 layers of cream.
  6. Freeze for over 6 hours or preferably overnight.
  7. Once done, dust over with cocoa powder.
